Happy Birthday

Today was our Hadley's 8th Birthday.
She had a fun filled day with gifts, dinner with cousins, then cake and ice cream to top it off.
She's very excited about being 8 and looking forward to her baptism.
We love you Had and enjoyed spending this Happy Day with you!

Ward Christmas Dinner

Tonight was our Ward Christmas Dinner. After dinner and the short and sweet program it was time for the "special visitor". I was anxious to see what Braeden would do. The second he saw Santa walk in the door his face totally lit up. He was so excited, the line couldn't move fast enough for him. When it was our turn, there was no hesitation, he knew exactly what to do and headed straight for Santa's lap.
1st visit

2o minutes after the first visit with Santa, Braeden insisted on seeing him again. I guess he didn't get enough time with him the first round. He just loved him. (What a nice and patient Santa).

Holiday Tag

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Both.
2. Real tree or Artificial Tree? Artificial.
3. When do you put up the tree? Usually, Thanksgiving weekend. This year the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
4. When do you take the tree down? Depends on the year. This year, the day after Christmas, I want it cleaned up before the baby arrives. In the past, when we've gone out of town for Christmas I've been known to take the tree down before we leave. But usually within a week or so after Christmas.
5. Do you like eggnog? Love it.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? When I was younger, a doll that gave strawberry scented kisses when you squeezed her tummy. When I was older, a cube shaped alarm clock and a faux swatch.
7. Hardest person to buy for? Mike.
8. Easiest person to buy for? The kiddies.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Three. But, I really want the Willow Tree Nativity Scene. I've wanted it ever since I set foot into The Quilted Bear many years ago.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail. This year we are mailing Happy New Year cards...new baby to include;)
11.Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Can't think of one.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Too many to name.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? When the kids go back to school in the fall.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Not a Christmas present.
15.Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My Grandma Pollard's peanut brittle.
16. Color of lights on the tree? Clear.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Any Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music. But really, I love it all.
18. Travel or stay home? Staying home this year...there's a baby coming soon;)
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Not without cheating.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Neither, a bow.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Pajama's on Christmas Eve, the rest on Christmas morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Necessities taking precedence over gift money.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Changes every year. This year red and white.
24. Favorite food for Christmas dinner? Actually, it's lunch and it's Aunt Joann's Soup that my mom makes every year. (I think she still makes it. It's been a few years since we've been there for Christmas:(
25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
$,$$$,$$$

I tag Brianne and anyone else who wants to play.

Halloween

Here are a few pics from our ward trunk-or-treat and Halloween night.
(I'm hoping to get more pics from Steven's camera, my battery died after 2 minutes of trick-or-treating. Ugh! I'll try to post more when I get them.)

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Mike and Steven. We wish you both a great day!
This is the first time in years they've actually been able to spend a little time together on "their" day.

We love you hun, thank you for all you do for our family.

Look Mom, I Did It

Mike said he didn't want a cake this year for his birthday, so I surprised him and made him my mom's cinnamon rolls, which he LOVES! It seems he only gets them when she comes to visit or if we visit there. This is the first time I've attempted to make them by myself. And there was one thing that made these different than my moms, THEY WERE A LITTLE DRY. Hey, it was my first try. Hopefully next time they will be better, that or Mike will just have to wait for my mom's perfection. ;)

Lines

Braeden loves to line things up, books, toys, whatever. I think his most favorite would be cars. That's what we find him making lines with more than anything. There are always a few "car guests" lined up at the table when we sit down to eat. Even when it's bedtime he lines up cars next to him in the bed. Silly kid. Here are a few of the "lines" we've come across.

This has to be my favorite. He lines up several "Cars" characters and other faves whenever he watches his favorite movie, "CARS". Sometimes he'll even talk to his little cars as they appear on the movie and re-enact certain scenes, especially crash and race scenes. Cracks me up.

Saturday at the Park

While the scenery looked like this at my parents home in Southern Idaho today... Here is how our Saturday afternoon looked. The temperature was just right and we took full advantage of it.

Too Quiet

As I was doing laundry and morning chores I realized it was too quiet and had been some time since I had seen Braeden. So I set out to see what he was up to. Here is what I came upon. He helped himself into his sisters' room, climbed in Hadley's doll playpen and was feeding her favorite kitty Graycie with a doll spoon. Sweet boy.

Back to School

The girls could not wait for today. They said they were just a little nervous but even more excited. As for their mom, she was more excited than anyone for school to start this year. Even in her emotional state she didn't shed a single tear. Not yet anyway. Okay, maybe it just hasn't set in yet. Who is she kidding. The tears will soon be flowing, it's just a matter of time.

Water Fun Birthday

Today was cousin Olivia's Birthday Party. Here are a few random pictures of the kiddies and their cousins.
I know, you would think we could spend $1.oo and buy Braeden a pair of blue floaties. Poor guy.

He didn't seem to care that the water was freezing. (Or that he had pink floaties on.;)

Braeden with the "Birthday Girl".

Cute cousin, Sophia.

Warming up.

Braeden with cousin Tanner.

Everyone had a blast. Especially Logenn, who was absent in many pictures, due to being involved in a water fight with the some of the lifeguards.

Thank you for the fun party Olivia. Happy Birthday!

Almost There

We are almost unpacked, finally.
~Mike finished taking the BAR last Thursday. YAY!
~Friday evening and Saturday morning was spent loading up the moving truck and trailer. (Thank You to all who helped.)
~Saturday afternoon we drove a couple of hours (due to traffic) and had a ton of help unloading the truck.
~Sunday we had to head south again because we couldn't fit everything in the truck on the first trip. (I know it was Sunday but we had to have everything out of the duplex by the end of that day.)
~Monday, we shopped around for a fridge and made a purchase. (Wasn't delivered until today.)
~Tuesday and today we finally got around to unpacking, we're making progress. Hopefully everything will be unpacked and organized before this weekend. Except for the garage, that's going to take some time.
I promise to post again very soon. And hopefully it will be something more exciting than this post.

Do Your Ears Hang Low?

A few of days ago the kids and I were running some errands. The girls were singing children's songs and I had to laugh at some of their versions. This is Logenn's version of, "Do Your Ears Hang Low?"

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble, do they throw?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw 'em over your shoulder
Like a cotton-pickin' soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Hadley's was the same except for the 2nd line,
Do they wobble, do they fro?

They both said that is how they heard it when they were smaller. Funny because that is not how I or the cassette sang it. After I sang the correct version of it they both started laughing. Our favorite part is "like a cotton pickin' soldier".

Happy 4th of July

Long time no blog, I know, I promise we are still alive. We have been super busy looking for a home. Thankfully we found one last weekend. Mike has been studying like crazy for the BAR. And now it's time for me to get my rear in high gear and get this place packed. Once we are all moved and settled I promise to blog again.
Happy 4th of July!
We hope everyone is having a fun and safe holiday.
